Why should I consider hiring a professional graphic designer?
While many people today believe that they can design themselves since their computer came with some text and photo editing software bundled
with it, it is not that easy or effective. A professional designer will use the latest professional hardware and software to develop your artwork.
The files created are the kind that printers and web developers expect to receive in order to produce professional output. Printers and other vendors
are always complaining about the improper files that are sent by clients who have done their own design work. Besides hardware and software,
a professional designer will consider proximity, alignment, repetition, contrast, color, typesetting and more when designing your artwork. Consider
the following excerpts,
"The branding of your business identity will increase public awareness of your company. By being "brand aware", you will provide a higher
level of consistency and continuity in your advertising and marketing materials. We recognize may brands from their visual identities, their logos.
Some examples include the Nike "swoosh" symbol, the dripping cup of Maxwell House Coffee, and Apple Computer's rainbow apple, to name a few.
These are examples of very strong, unique visual images that are easily remembered. We remember the companies they represent simply by seeing the
graphic image."
"A graphic designer can assist you in developing a professional image, as well as assist you in working with a printer."

How much does a logo design cost?
The word logo is defined as "A name, symbol, or trademark designed for easy and definite recognition, especially one borne on a single
printing plate or piece of type". The key words are "easy and definite recognition". Your company's image is very important and how that
image is communicated through your logo is as well. Creating that logo from scratch requires good communication, research, good design
fundamentals and vision. All of these things require time and experience. GrooveMaster Graphics has divided its logo rates into several
categories. The difference in the categories is the number of original logo designs you will have to choose from and the number of revisions
of your chosen design that you will be entitled to. The more designs and revisions you get the higher the cost. GMg has added some 'budget'
logo design packages if your budget is really tight. Ask us about them.

What is the difference between a traditional silver paper print and an ink jet print?
Traditional silver paper prints are printed on you guessed it silver halide paper. Tiny bits of silver are embedded in the paper which then reacts with various chemicals in the darkroom. These prints are made in a wet darkroom using an enlarger and various photographic chemicals and techniques.
Ink Jet prints are printed on a printer similar to the printer you may have on your desktop. They are printed on specially designed photo quality paper using four to six colors of ink. In place of the darkroom and chemicals, a computer is used to manipulate the image and then print it. Ink jet prints can be made from scanned negative or positive film and of course from digital files generated by digital cameras. Today, prints made with top quality ink jet papers and inks will last as long or longer than traditional silver print.

What is the difference between a JPEG file and a GIF file?
A JPEG file is generally used for continuous tone images such as photographs. JPEG's reduce file size by using compression algorithms. JPEG compression always lowers overall quality just a bit so JPEG compression is known as lossy. JPEG's can be created using different quality settings. The higher the quality the larger the file and vice versa.
A GIF file is generally used for images with large areas of solid color such as in line art, logos and illustrations. The GIF format is also lossy. Most of the images and graphics you see on the internet are either JPEG or GIF.

Can you explain stock image licensing?
Many times a designer may need an image of some sort for print or the web. The designer may choose to hire someone to photograph, draw or electronically create the image or he may look to stock agencies for an image that already exists. Stock agencies have thousands of images in their libraries and just about any image you can think of is available. The end user receives certain rights to use the image in a particular fashion after paying a fee. The image is not sold but instead is licensed. Licensing comes in several flavors including Royalty Free and Rights Manages.

Can you explain how Royalty Free stock works?
A Royalty Free stock license allows the licensee to use the image in any way he sees fit, for as long as he desires. The types of use allowed are limited only by terms concerning decency, etc.
